'Jigurru' Storm Season - A rainforest story
This story is a brief glimpse of the World Heritage Wet Tropics Rainforest in the Cassowary Coast Region and the Mandubarra rainforest Aboriginal people who were nurtured by these forests. 'Jigurru' is set in the ‘nose of the wet season’ - November and December. The heat is magnified by the high humidity. Cool relief only comes when tropical thunderstorms bring the seasons’ first rainfalls. The idea for this story came from Nellie Epong. Nellie read Yvonne’s weekly blog to her grandchildren. One day Nellie suggested Yvonne should put the photos and stories of the animals from her blog into a book and so ‘Jigurru’ was conceived. Yvonne’s blog is called ‘News From Coquette Point’. 'Jigurru' is co written by Anne Wilkinson. Photo art by Liz Gallie High quality limited edition posters also now available
